Dr. Krishnagopal calls for selfless service to weaker sections

New Delhi, April 5: The Indian philosophy and approach to selfless service envisages presence of God in every living being while similar activities conducted by other faith people have some inherent motives thus rendering that act contaminated, observed Dr Krishna Gopal, Sahsarkaryawah of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) here today.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the second Rashtrya Sewa Sangam organised by Rashtriya Sewa Bharti, an umbrella organizations engaged in service activities in India. The three-day conclave is being held at Samrasta Nagar, temporarily erected at Alipur on G T Karnal Road near here. The audience is named after the third Sarsanghchalak of RSS the late Balasaheb Devras who gave this dimension of sewa to Sangh work. In his most inspiring address Dr Krishna Gopal stressed that it was the bounden duty of the well-to-do people of the society to take care of the deprived and neglected sections and strive to bring them at par with them. In the first phase of our work, we would like to create such an environment in our own country and the second phase would see its extension for the entire world, he added.

The RSS leader recalled how the late Balasaheb Devras used RSS founder Dr Hedgewar’s birth centenary year to launch service activities in 1989. Devras discussed with his colleagues the possibility of launching 5000 service activities for the emancipation of the downtrodden, neglected and deprived sections of the society. His resolve was completed in the coming seven years and now the number of such service activities run into lakhs, he added.

He expressed hope and confidence that in the coming five years this number would cross the limit of three lakh. He suggested that Rashtriya Sewa Bharti and RSS swayamsevkas should achive this target with the involvement of other NGOs and competent and capable individuals of the society.
Dr Krishna Gopal further gave a call to create a mindset like famous Muslim poet Abdul Rahim Khan-e-Khana, who, during the time of Akabar, was engrossed into the devotion to Lord Krishna and the culture of this land, to root out the problems of the society that have been plaguing our society due to slavery of over 1000 years.
